There’s something about this song that makes me want to weep uncontrollably. I spoke with my niece on the phone last night, she’s five and getting ready for her first day of kindergarten. I asked her if she was excited, and she said “No, I’m kinda scared.” My first instinct was to beat the shit out of the world. Instead, I told her that it would be really fun and she should be brave. I still felt like crying myself to sleep, and have never wanted to stop time more in my life.

(Also, I am still super excited for the new Tom Waits record)
